It’s been about 3 months since I ordered and put down a deposit on a Casita Spirit Deluxe travel trailer. Starting early Friday, August 7, I drove 2000 miles from Northern California to my friend’s home a bit north of Houston Texas. Tomorrow morning I will drive to Rice TX to finalize the sale of and take delivery of the trailer. The drive was fortunately uneventful, and I only made one stop for something colorful outside of Amarillo TX…

A sign for sale at the Camping World store in Fort Worth said “Home is where you park it”. That being the case, for three days this week, my “home” will be at Lake Livingston State Park. After that, “home” will be various other camp sites between Livingston TX and Northern California. I’m hoping to spend at least one night at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) campground, Valley of Fires near Carrizozo NM. There are limited campsites in that campground so we’ll see if any are open.
This trip will be a shakedown cruise of my new home. I’ll be testing most systems to ensure they work. If there are any problems, the factory is only a few hours away to fix it under warrantee. I’m sure the shakedown will also reveal problems with me. :-O
