Second Day: Fernley to Pahrump

Left Fernley NV around 8am and headed to US95 south in Fallon NV, or so I thought. Had to backtrack after filling up on diesel and took the detour through Silver Springs NV and Yerington NV. Got back onto US95 at Schurz NV.

After filling up again in Tonopah, I saw a place I want to try. Would you?

Who wouldn’t want to stay at the Clown Motel. Gotta be better than the Bates Motel… right? Pay no attention to the emergency vehicles!

The physical geography in central Nevada is pretty cool for interested passing motorists. Colorful strata in those hills. The angles of some of the outcroppings makes you wonder about the cataclysm that caused them. Would have been awesome to watch it happen from a safe location. Of course, that would require time travel and technology to hover in that safe location while it happened. Maybe I’ve been watching too many CGI movies (Lucy comes to mind).

Pulled into the Pair-A-Dice RV park in Pahrump NV. This place is an Escapee co-op. Members own the individual lots and let traveling Escapee members stay in them when they are not otherwise occupied. Pretty sweet deal for Escapees! The best part is that visitors get a discount. $20/night with hookups is better than a motel, even a Clown Motel. 🙂
